A message from Executive Director - Jeff Bornefeld

As we begin the 2012-13 school year, all of us at CCPY are excited to celebrate 13 wonderful and successful years creating brighter futures through community here in San Jose.  This would not have been possible without the help and support of hundreds of mentors, volunteers as well as our many generous financial partners - not the least of which has been the City of San Jose. Mayor Chuck Reed and the Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force (MGPTF) who have been great partners and play a major role in how we are able to run our program.

The MGPTF evaluation process conducted by Citizens Crime Prevention Associates utilizes a ranking system based on the National Malcolm Baldrige Award that rates the MGPTF programs involved on a number of criteria out of 1,000 points. CCPY has regularly received high scores including an amazing score of 902, the highest any program has ever received. We are proud to be a partner with the Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force and are actively working together providing effective life-skills development alternatives for struggling teens to learn to create brighter futures through community and this year is no exception.

We are currently enrolling students in our Step-Up program for incoming freshman at two East San Jose High schools. We are raising funding to support an additional 45 new students in our year-long transformational program.  We are also looking for Mentors to help us in our structured consistently successful program.  For information click here  to find out how you can be a part of a life-changing experience.

Our mission is only possible because of the people who are involved on every level, please stay tuned to our newsletter, news blog and website to stay in touch with everything CCPY and help us change our community.

Sincerly, Jeff Bornefeld
